WHAT IS DOMESTIC ABUSE?
Do I suffer, have I suffered or do I know of any of these situations?Any act of physical, psychological, sexual or any other kind of violence repeatedly inflicted on women by their husbands, partners or boyfriends that violate the victims' freedom and rights and have serious consequences for them.
KINDS OF DOMESTIC ABUSE
Physical abuse.
Acts of deliberate physical aggression, carried out repeatedly by a relative, that cause physical, and inevitably psychological damage and violate the freedom of an individual: shoves, slaps, blows, use of weapons, etc
Psychological abuse.
This is any act that produces debasement, humiliation, verbal aggression, social isolation, threats, etc. repeatedly carried out by a member of the family, that may occur with or without physical aggression and cause the victim psychological damage. This is more difficult to prove if it is not accompanied by physical aggression. The use of this kind of violence leads to the destruction of the victim's psychological balance.
Abuse with sexual aggression.
This is considered to be sexual aggression carried out with violence or intimidation within a relationship, without due respect for the victim's sexual freedom as she is considered to be a permanently available sexual object.
CRIMES AGAINST SEXUAL FREEDOM
Sexual aggression.
Any conduct that infringes the sexual freedom of the individual through the use of force or intimidation, or by taking advantage of a position of power, imposes a sexual relationship upon another individual against their will
Sexual abuse.
Theses are non-consensual acts that violate the sexual freedom of another individual without violence or intimidation. Non-consensual sexual abuse is considered to be acts carried out on: Children under 12 years of age, people with mental disorders, or the mentally handicapped or when consent is obtained by taking advantage of a situation of evident superiority that violates the victim's freedom.
Sexual harassment.
when someone requests sexual favours for themselves or a third party by taking advantage of their superior status in the workplace or classroom or a similar situation to explicitly or implicitly threaten to cause the victim harm linked to the legitimate expectations that the victim may have within the scope of this relationship

COUNCIL SERVICES FOR DEALING WITH DOMESTIC ABUSE AND/OR CRIMES AGAINST SEXUAL FREEDOM
PROVINCIAL COUNCIL SOCIAL EMERGENCY SERVICE
It has been conceived as an option to help in immediate, individual, family or social emergency situations, that occur when the municipal social services are closed (Workdays from 15:00 to 8:00, all day on Saturdays and public holidays).

PSYCHOLOGICAL CARE
A psychological care service is provided through an agreement signed between the Department for Human Rights, Employment and Social Integration and the Gipuzkoa Psychologists' Association.
Description
This consists of specialised therapeutic treatment aimed at victims of physical and/or psychological abuse in the home or during a relationship and/or of possible crimes against sexual freedom, as well as aggressors who ask for this.
Beneficiaries
- Victims of physical abuse.
- Victims of psychological abuse.
- Victims of crimes against sexual freedom.
- Aggressors
Services provided
- Study and assessment: initial
diagnosis to establish whether they are victims or not and their suitability
for continuing treatment.
- Therapeutic treatment: a maximum of 18
sessions lasting 45/60 minutes (extendable in exceptional cases).
To achieve the best possible results, the Provincial Council, the municipal
social services and the Psychologists' Association coordinate their services.
Financing
This service is free for beneficiaries.
The Provincial Council Department for Human Rights, Employment and Social
Integration will pay the professional bills in accordance with the sums
established each year for the provision of each service.
