DESCRIPTION
The Department for Human Rights, Employment and Social Integration implements programmes to provide support for the homeless through the RAIS Foundation, Emaus, Cáritas, the Larratxo Foundation and Abegi.PEOPLE BEING TARGETED
People who have nowhere to live, have no financial means or social support, have problems getting access to health and social facilities and often have problems with alcoholism or other addictions and a high rate of mental illness.SERVICES
Street unit.
This aims to locate and contact people who live relatively stably on the street and provide them with information and support and monitors their situation in order to provide them with access to other means of social integration.
Day units.
These are day care centres: meeting places where various activities are provided by professional social workers that aim to encourage social integration. The Aterpe day unit also provides a social canteen service.
Informal night centres.
These offer a series of hammocks for people who have nowhere to spend the night.
Pre-employment workshops.
In these workshops they work on a series of aspects (self-esteem, personal growth, relationships) and habits (work, social) aimed at making it easier for them to integrate into society.
Care centres for the chronically homeless.
These centres provide board and lodging for a long period (a year and a half on average) for people who have been homeless for a long time, and whose situation has therefore got seriously worse.
Refuge and emergency assessment.
This aims to meet their needs for board and lodging for a short period of time (a month) in order to diagnose their situation and guide and refer each case to the appropriate social services department.
Intensive social integration centres.
These aim to carry out an integration programme through a comprehensive treatment process, lasting six months on average, which demands a great deal of effort and commitment from people who decide to begin to lead a more normalised lifestyle.
Normalisation apartments.
These aim to facilitate the social integration of those people who have completed an integration programme and who are undergoing a personalised support activity plan.
