Anyone who requires information, guidance or emotional support to help them with problems regarding their own sexual orientation or gender identity.
Support for their closest relatives (father, mother), which is a group that usually worries the most about their children's homosexuality and has the most problems coming to terms with it, and for their immediate social circle (brothers and sisters, friends, spouse...). This would aim to provide information and help them to tackle a situation properly which they feel they don't know a thing about and that they lack the resources to deal with.
All those groups that need this: schools, leisure groups...
Teachers, the workplace, people who are HIV positive, transsexuals...
Legal, sexual health, leisure and free time...
A collection of documents is available to anyone who is interested. It consists of books, magazines, press, videos, newspapers and periodicals... that covers subjects such as lesbianism, homosexuality, sexual diversity, history of homosexuality, sexual psychology...
The basic functions of this area are to attend to and channel the expectations and questions that gays, lesbians or transsexuals raise when they come into contact with the centre and/or other homosexuals for the first time. They would be referred from this area, depending on what they require, to other departments in the centre.
This would cover needs for support and guidance, and would tackle the situation of those people who are not sure about their sexual orientation, who feel confused or who have problems with it. This support and guidance work is carried out at a primary care level and establishes channels for referring those cases that may require more specific professional treatment.
Their aim is to create a group framework through which problems can be shared, people can become aware of the difficult situations and experiences they have gone through regarding their own homosexuality or transsexual identity, and the most common problems can be clarified.
This service is financed by the Department for Human Rights, Employment and Social Integration.
